This role is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal part in building the capability in our Tax Technology Team. Working closely with clients, the Project Manager role will be responsible for delivering large Digital Tax solutions and Tax Transformation projects. Focus will primarily on ensuring that projects are delivered on time, to budget and meet defined business objectives.

The location of the position is flexible within Australia, likely Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra or Perth.

What will your typical day look like?

As a Project Manager in Tax Technology, you’ll be working with a diverse team to manage internal and external projects that will define the future of tax functionalities used in the firm, while balancing the tension between delivering efficiently today and innovating for tomorrow.

Your areas of focus will include:
Managing project teams to deliver programs of work designed to transform Deloitte Tax and Legal via the adoption of new business processes, technology and change management.
Creating and executing project work plans to manage day to day operational aspects of the project, including budgeting and resource allocation.
Establishing and managing stakeholder relationships with vendors and internal clients.
Preparing for project reviews and quality assurance.
Compiling project and portfolio reporting as required.
Managing the delivery of scope to schedule and budget.
Responsible for coordinating impact assessment as a result of a scope change.
Responsible for developing and managing the work break down structure to support the scope, outcomes, drives timely completion of deliverables and milestones by project resources .
Monitor, communicate, escalate high priority risks and issues to the program directorate in a timely manner .
Manage, support and coach direct reports.
Operating as liaison between Tax and various delivery teams (incl. internal and external development and IT teams) to ensure projects are delivered on time, budget and meet Tax requirements.

You’re an advocate for change and excited about process improvement, innovative technologies, growing a business and having variety in the work you do. You’ll bring experience in one or more of the following competencies:

Excellent communication skills
5+ Years’ experience as a Project Manager, managing the end-to-end life cycle of a project
Experience in project budgeting and risk management
Openness to learning new technologies
Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Accounting or Law
Having a high attention to detail
1-2 years background in a mid-tier or Big 4 accounting firm preferred
Experience in managing a range of large-scale projects
Intermediate to Advance level Excel skills
Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to improve the client’s experience
Familiarity or an interest in with Enterprise Resource Planning, SQL, Python and other scripting languages is a bonus!
